Twenty-five students from the ASEM National College of Commerce in Chișinău participated in the third edition of #YouthEconomy powered by iute Moldova. The event took place on International Education Day and engaged future accountants, marketers, and finance and banking specialists in an interactive financial education workshop led by mentors from the business community in the Republic of Moldova.
#YouthEconomy is an initiative within the Financial Intelligence Generation project, which explains economic and business principles in a way that the younger generation can understand, through dialogue and stories from successful entrepreneurs in our country. At this edition, students from the National College of Commerce had the opportunity to learn about the success stories of mentors such as:
- Sergiu Sobuleac, CEO of iute Moldova;
- Andrada Ionescu, General Manager of GLOVO for the Republic of Moldova;
- Pavel Sîrbu, manager of the Comedy Zebra Show;
- Dumitru Țîra, Founder and CEO of the Realitatea media group.
“For the sixth consecutive year, we have been actively involved in financial education events aimed at the younger generation. I am impressed by the young people I have met here – a generation that is curious and interested in entrepreneurship. iute will remain a company that invests in people and in the future, which is why we will continue to develop financial education projects to support young people on their path to success”, said Sergiu Sobuleac, CEO of iute Moldova.
At the same time, the mentor shared his entrepreneurial experience with the participants, discussing the less visible challenges: how to manage failures, how to overcome crises, and what to watch out for to avoid the common pitfalls of entrepreneurship.
The event host encouraged participants to hone their economic knowledge and skills in order to achieve even better professional results.
“I’m delighted that so many young people attend these workshops every time, which shows us that the new generation is interested in economics. Here, they discover business trends, develop practical skills, and understand how the economy works and how they can start their own business. Through them, we are building the economic future of the Republic of Moldova”, said Alexandru Stratan, rector of ASEM.
Students from ASEM’s National College of Commerce participated in this edition of #YouthEconomy to discover useful information not covered in class. At the same time, they had the opportunity to learn firsthand how to launch and manage a successful business.
“I was surprised by the mentors’ success stories. The workshop is important for us young people because it gives us the opportunity to learn from the trainers’ experiences and avoid repeating their mistakes”, said Carolina Gheorghiev, a second-year student majoring in Accounting.
“During this session, I enjoyed working in a group with other students. I learned new information about how to start a business, something I plan to do in the future”, said Igor Burduja, a first-year student majoring in Finance and Banking.
The January 24 meeting marked the final session of the #YouthEconomy project for these students, organized in partnership with ASEM and Junior Achievement Moldova. Over the course of the three sessions, the young people learned to develop financial strategies, network, and communicate effectively, and participated in entrepreneurship education sessions featuring inspirational stories from guest mentors.
